Every Palm Beach County parent knows the problem. The school calendar has a scattering of single days off that are not Thanksgiving, not winter break, and not spring break: teacher planning days, a random Monday in October, an early-January return date that does not line up with your work calendar. There are around ten of them in a typical year, and each one is a full workday you have to solve.
Single-day camps exist for exactly this. They run one school-day-off at a time, roughly matching working hours, and you book only the days you need.
Wellington Allstars runs No School Days Camp from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM at $75 per day, with an option to stay until 5:00 PM for an additional $15. The day includes tumbling and stunting, water play when the weather permits, and a pizza lunch. It is open to all athletes, whether or not they are on one of our teams.

Why a gym day beats a screen day
The honest comparison for most families is not camp versus an enriching alternative. It is camp versus a day of screens at a grandparent's house, which every parent has used and none feel great about.
A day at a cheer gym is roughly seven hours of physical activity, social time with other kids, and structured skill work, in a supervised space built for exactly this kind of movement. Children come home tired in the way that produces good sleep. For athletes already training with us, it is also a rare chunk of unhurried mat time, which is when skills tend to click.
What the day actually looks like
Morning arrival, 8:30 AM. Drop-off, then a warm-up and games to get everyone moving and mixing.
Mid-morning skill work. The most focused block, when energy is highest. Tumbling on the mats, stunting groups, and progressions appropriate to each child's level. Athletes are grouped by ability so a first-timer is not thrown in with a Level 3 tumbler.
Pizza lunch. Included in the daily rate.
Afternoon water play. When the weather permits, we bring out the water slides. This is South Florida, so it usually permits, but it depends on the day.
Late afternoon wind-down and pickup at 4:00 PM, or 5:00 PM for families who add the extra hour.
What to pack
- Swimsuit and towel for water play, plus a full change of clothes.
- Athletic clothes for the mat: fitted shorts or leggings and a fitted top. Nothing with zippers, buttons or rough seams.
- A labeled refillable water bottle. Hydration matters more than parents expect on an active day in Florida.
- Snacks. Lunch is provided, but active kids graze.
- Sunscreen applied before drop-off if it is a water-play day.
- Hair tied back, and no jewelry.
Label everything. A gym at the end of a camp day generates a remarkable lost-and-found pile.
Does my child need cheer experience?
No. Camp is open to all athletes regardless of whether they are on a Wellington Allstars team or have ever tumbled. Coaches group by ability and teach progressions, so a beginner works on forward rolls and cartwheels while a more advanced athlete drills handsprings.
For a lot of families, a camp day is actually the lowest-pressure introduction to the gym available: one day, no season, no commitment. Some children come for the day off and leave asking about classes.
Five questions to ask any camp before you book
- What are the actual hours, and is there extended care? An 8:30 to 4:00 day with an option until 5:00 covers most work schedules. A 9:00 to 2:00 day does not.
- What is included? Ask specifically about lunch. A $75 day including lunch and a $65 day where you pack one are closer than they look.
- What is the supervision ratio, and who is supervising? At a gym, ask whether the staff are the same coaches who run classes.
- Is the space built for the activity? Spring floors, mats and proper equipment are safer for seven hours of tumbling than a multipurpose room.
- How do you handle a child who does not know anyone? A good answer involves deliberate grouping and buddy pairing rather than hoping it works out.
Booking ahead matters
Single-day camps fill unevenly. The dates near long weekends and the early-January date tend to go first, because a lot of families need the same coverage at the same time. Camp spots are limited, so book ahead of the date rather than the week of.
Payment is accepted by Zelle at 561-714-7688 or Venmo at @wellington-allstars.
If you are also looking at weekly activities
Camp days solve childcare. If you are also trying to solve "my kid needs an activity," our six-week class sessions run Monday through Saturday and cover tumbling, jump, stretch, stunting, flight school, acro, kids CrossFit and open gym. A 30-minute class is $75 for the six weeks and a 55-minute class is $95. The current grid is on our class schedule.
For a fall performance goal, our Fall Half Season and Hip Hop Team run twelve weeks at $295 all inclusive, ending in a showcase performance on November 14.
